Travis Michaels traveled to Guatemala in 2021 looking for adventure. He found it — and he found something he couldn't unsee. What came next became Endure Adventures.

In 2021, Travis Michaels traveled to Guatemala on a mountain bike trip. What he found was one of the most beautiful places he'd ever seen — and one of the most heartbreaking. The poverty wasn't a statistic. It was faces. Families. Communities full of people doing the work, building what they could.
The guides Travis quickly became friends with — Nefta and Maria — were already building something meaningful. They had the skill, the passion, and the drive. What made the difference was having neighbors who believed in what they were building and chose to walk alongside them.
"Paul called it carrying each other's burdens. We think that looks less like building someone's house and more like sitting at their table, learning their name and returning next year."
In 2023, Travis met Shelby on a job site in Colorado Springs. Three months later she was on a plane to South Africa with him. She wasn't a believer when she landed, but there too, Shelby experienced the same feelings Travis did in Guatemala. Six months later, she asked Travis to take her to church.
Today Travis and Shelby lead Endure Adventures — built on the conviction that the most faithful thing you can do with your presence is sow it well, tend what grows and return to see the harvest.
We develop communities economically by routing every dollar to locally owned businesses. We develop travelers spiritually by putting faith into motion. And we return — because covenant is the point.
